About Wildflower Studio:
Wildflower Studio is a small quaint Creative Studio, located at 909 North Graves St. McKinney Texas.
The Vision for our Studio grew out of my love for “Fiber”. I find it fascinating how Sheared Lambs, Goats, Lamas and Alpaca, can be transformed into such luscious fibers to be used in so many applications.
It was my dream to have a line of roving produced with just the right blend of fibers and dyed exclusively for wildflower studio, while perusing this dream I was introduced to Ashley Wolfe from Dye2Spin who was excited to work with me on my vision. As we talked she told me about her yarn. I felt that I would l like to add her hand dyed yarn
About Linda J.:
Linda J. was a bored housewife who didn’t know how to thread a sewing machine when on a lark, she decided to take a class in how to make teddy bears. That was 30 years ago!
into my creative studio and on-line store! My Vision was not yet complete I needed an artist to create patterns for the yarn. I was then blessed to fine Laurie Beardsley and now carry her patterns; she works with Ashley, designing patterns using Dye2Spin yarn. My Dream was not yet complete. I have assembled the best Dream Team, and now we are ready to share all our wonderful fibers and teachers with you.
Our Dream consists of very talented and knowledgeable people. Courtney Overton, web designer, who takes care of designing our fabulous web-site and on-line store. Diane Johannsen, my right hand, who co-teaches with me and keeps me on track! Diane is a very knowledgeable artist and extremely talented; she is a certified doll sculptor, and is accomplished in many other art forms. To my pleasure she has agreed to share her many talents here at the studio. Jenni McGrede, designs and creates the most adorable Mohair Bears as well as other creations, has agreed to bring her talent to the studio! Rachael Batchelor, is a talented knitter, crocheter, and sewer. She has knitted samples for the studio and also helps me keep up with social media and advertising. I am so pleased to announce that Jacque Pierce, who is an incredible knitter, is on board to teach beginning knitting to advanced projects and my favorite “Lace”. You will love her teaching style. You can see it takes a village to create my vision. I haven’t stopped there, we are bringing on board new teachers all the time. Check out website often.
Our product lines consist of hand dyed artist yarn, hand spun yarn, organic yarn from the local farms, patterns, needle felting roving, and supplies. A line of wonderful roving; dyed for our spinners, high quality notions for the knitter, crocheter, mohair bears and supplies, kits and patterns and much more.
We are open by appointment only as we are a working studio, with lots of other commitments such as fiber festivals, fiber retreats which I teach at, and I also teach at other stores. We do have a knit night on Thursday night from 5-9 p.m. and would love for you to join us. All of our products and classes may be purchased on our online store.
The dream team is made up of the extremely talented women that are responsible for helping Wildflower Studio become all it can be. Linda J. is a firm believer we are all given our own set of talents. Linda J. has expressed that she “has been blessed with a group of women that have agreed to share their talents with me to create my vision!”
That began a career in designing, creating and selling her bears, which were primarily mohair, fully jointed bears. Twenty three years ago several people approached her and asked to teach them how to create their own teddy bear which began her teaching career. This then lead to many special events such as teaching retreats with a special theme, primarily located in the small quaint towns of Texas.
Today, she is in business for herself with a loyal following, award winning and national attention over the years. Although her first passion is still designing and creating mohair teddy bears, she has now reached into a new medium of needle felting as well as steampunk art.
She is a fiber artist that is creating a line of hand dyed roving to use in her needle felt creations and designs from two dimensional wall art to three dimensional designs. Look for Linda J.’s hand dyed roving which will soon be available to purchase on this website.
Linda J's dream was always to have a successful working studio with space to create as well as teach classes in her art. This dream has finally come true! This spring Wildflower Studios has officially opened its door in McKinney, Texas.
